Funeral Potatoes are a family favourite. They are cheesy potatoes with soft potatoes, a creamy sauce, and buttery corn flakes on top to make them crispy. This food is great as a side for any holiday meal or family dinner.
– 1 bag (32 oz) frozen southern hash browns – 1 container (16 oz) sour cream – 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup – 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter melted – 1½ teaspoons onion powder – 1 teaspoon kosher salt – 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese – 3 cups cornflakes (crushed into fine crumbs) – 4 tablespoons butter melted
Ingredients
Before commencing, check to see that the frozen potatoes have seen a complete thawing.
Leave the frozen food out at room temperature for up to two hours before commencing, or thaw it in the refrigerator overnight.
The oven should be preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking dish measuring 9 inches by 13 inches by spraying it with cooking spray. Put aside for later.
Put the thawed hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, melted butter, onion powder, kosher salt, and shredded cheddar cheese into a large mixing bowl.
Combine everything in a gentle manner until it is distributed evenly. After combining everything carefully, mix it.
It is important to ensure that the potato mixture is distributed evenly throughout the baking dish that has been prepared.
A second bowl should be used to combine the melted butter with the crushed cornflakes that have a crispy texture.
Mix it well so that all the cornflake bits are covered. The cornflake mix should be spread out evenly on top of the potatoes.
Place the potatoes in the oven and bake for forty-five to fifty minutes, or until they are bubbling hot and the top is golden brown.
A few minutes should be allowed for the casserole to cool down before it is served for warm. Have fun!
