Plum jam is a sweet addition to bread, cookies, and other treats! Everyone should have this one-of-a-kind jelly recipe in their kitchen!
Ingredients
Plums should be washed, cut in half, and the pits should be removed. After adding the sugar to the plums in a big mixing bowl, toss them to ensure that they are evenly coated, and then let them sit for two hours.
Pour the mixture into a large pot that may be used for cooking.Bring it to a boil over medium heat, uncovered, and stir it over the course of the cooking process. Lemon juice and lemon zest should be added.
Bring the mixture to a boil until it begins to bubble everywhere.Over low heat, bring to a simmer for two hours, and then turn off the heat. Bring the temperature down to room temperature.
Proceed with this step four times. In most cases, I complete this task over the course of two days, or I begin working on it very early in the morning.
If you bring it to a boil for the last time, make sure to stir it regularly to keep it from scorching, and do not allow it to cool down.
It is recommended that the jars and lids be cleaned with soap and warm water, and then they should be allowed to dry completely before being used again.
This activity is of utmost significance. When the covers are brought to a boil, you should spend five minutes doing so.
Put the hot jam into the jars, leaving about 1/2 inch of room between the lids. When you screw the lids on, make sure they are tight but not too tight.
Place the jars inside the canning kettle, and then cover them with water that is two inches deep. Bring to a boil, then continue stirring for fifteen minutes.
Remove from the saucepan and allow to sit undisturbed at room temperature for a period of twenty-four hours.
After 24 hours, push down on the middle of the lid to make sure the seal has formed. It shouldn't move at all.If the seal doesn't form, put the jam in the fridge and eat it within 3 months.
