– In this , we decorated an 8 inch tier but our bunny cake topper would be adorable on cakes of any size. – Chocolate Bunny- I used a white chocolate Lindt bunny – Vanilla Buttercream (We used our Classic Vanilla Buttercream Recipe) – 233 Grass/Fur Piping Tip – Coloring Gels: We used Americolor Deep Pink, Electric Green, Sky Blue, Lemon Yellow – Sprinkles for eyes and nose (You could also use buttercream or fondant) – Edible Easter Gra – Chocolate Eggs (optional) – Cake Comb (optional) – Bench scraper/straight edge for smoothing – Disposable Piping Bag – Vodka/Everclear/Lemon Extract for mixing with coloring gel to create pink "paint" for ear. You could also use pink petal dust of light pink buttercream or fondant for this. – Ribbon/Bow for bunny- attach with a dot of buttercream – Cake Cardboard- If decorating the cake on a turntable or kitchen counter, assemble the cake on a cake cardboard cut down to the size of the cake (or slightly smaller) so that you can easily transfer the chilled, decorated cake to the pedestal or cake plate.
The chocolate bunny's ears were painted inside with vodka-based pink and white colouring gel. Pink buttercream, petal dust, or fondant work too.
Pipe buttercream fur on the rabbit using a 233 tip. I held the bunny's bottom while working, so I didn't fill it with buttercream until I put it on the cake.
A thin coating of vanilla buttercream was frosted on the 8-inch cake tier and frozen for 15 minutes in the freezer before adding the second coat.
After combing and chilling the buttercream frosting, pipe colourful stripes using a disposable piping bag with a snipped tip.
Pipe the stripes thick enough to avoid touching the white buttercream while smoothing. It's okay if the stripes are irregular.
Top the cake with edible Easter grass or buttercream grass with a 233 or star tip. Place the rabbit on top and fill the bottom with bunny fir.
Add sprinkle eyes and nose (or buttercream or fondant). I gave the rabbit a little bow with a buttercream dot. Add pastel chocolate eggs.
