– 1 pound Italian sausage– 1 pound pasta – 2 tablespoons olive oil– 1 medium onion– 3 cloves garlic – red pepper flake– 1 cup heavy cream– 1 cup Parmesan cheese– salt and pepper– ½ cup fresh basil

Cook pasta until al dente per package instructions. Save 1 cup of pasta water before draining. Set aside pasta.

While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add Italian sausage and break it up with a spoon until browned and cooked.

Add diced onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook the onion for 5 minutes until translucent.

Reduce heat to medium and add heavy cream. After heating the cream, add the Parmesan.
