Hi Bold Bakers!

Ciambella is a gorgeous, straightforward, and traditional Italian breakfast cake that is the ideal companion for your morning cup of coffee or tea as it is so simple and straightforward. In addition, this recipe for homemade ciambella has two additional advantages: it can be prepared in a matter of minutes, and because it is made with olive oil, it does not contain an ingredient that contains dairy.

Sugar, eggs, flour, and olive oil are just some of the fundamental components that are required to make Ciambella. It is highly possible that you already possess all of the items included on this list. Due to the use of olive oil, this recipe for ciambella produces a cake that is incredibly soft and supple. Additionally, the zest and juice of one orange are used to enrich the flavour of the cake.

What Is Ciambella?

The Ciambella is a round cake that is traditionally prepared in Italy. It is similar to the Italian version of a bundt cake and is created with very basic ingredients. Ciambella is now commonly used to refer to any dough that is fashioned like a ring. In practically every region of Italy, you will be able to find ciambella in a variety of forms, ranging from a dough that is braided and solid to a doughnut-sized variant. Once upon a time, it was flavoured with straightforward flavours such as honey, lemon, or orange, but now days, you may discover a wide variety of flavours, such as chocolate, vanilla, or ricotta.

This recipe is also incredibly forgiving. Even if it doesn’t turn out perfectly, there’s an Italian proverb, “Not all ciambella have a hole.” You can always tell your guests that any less than beautiful cake is meant to look rustic and has been made like that for generations!
