Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie Recipe

An anti-inflammatory smoothie recipe that does not contain bananas and is therefore healthful. 

– 2/3 cup beet roasted, chopped and frozen – 2 cups ripe strawberries chopped and frozen – 1 tsp fresh turmeric peeled and grated* – 1 tsp fresh ginger peeled and grated – 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or non-dairy milk of choice – ½ cup orange juice Optional Toppings or Additions: – Hemp Seeds – Goji Berrie – Raw cashews or almond – Yogurt or coconut milk – Fresh fruit of choice – Almond butter – Protein Powder

Start by roasting or steaming beets. I cut beets into ½” pieces, wrap them in foil, and bake at 400 degrees for 45-50 minutes.

Cut the beetroot in half and steam it for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.Beets should be cooled before freezing for at least two hours.

Since you only need 2/3 cup, you may have extra roasted beets for salads.

You can also let the beetroot cool to room temperature and add ice to the smoothie instead of freezing it.

Blend all ingredients until smooth.Enjoy the smoothie in glass! Add interesting smoothie ingredients like goji berries, hemp seeds, raw cashews, cacao nibs, etc.
